What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RK1300-0BS01-1AA4 is an electromechanical reversing starter from the EM 300 RS family, designed for the ET 200X distributed I/O system. It combines motor starting, reversing, and overload protection in a single IP65-rated enclosure — no separate contactor-plus-overload assembly needed. Rated for AC-3 duty at 0.06 kW / 400 V, with a setting range of 0.14 to 0.2 A via a bimetal overload relay. That 0.2 A full-scale value sets the maximum continuous motor current the starter can protect — size the motor so its FLA falls within this window. Built-in PROFIBUS DP communication means this starter talks directly to the PLC without a separate gateway module — the bus address and diagnostics come through the ET 200X backplane. The integrated motor brake output (DC 500 V / 1 A) handles internally supplied brakes, saving an external brake relay.
Deployment context — where this lives
IP65 protection means the 3RK1300-0BS01-1AA4 is built for machine-mount or washdown zones — no separate control cabinet required. It bolts directly to the machine frame, and the 9-pole motor feeder and 9-pole power connection (tab terminals) keep field wiring clean. Operating voltage is 400 … 500 V AC, three-phase, with an ambient temperature range of 0 … 55 °C. The maximum short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu) at 400 V is 50 A — coordinate upstream protection (circuit-breakers, per the design) so fault energy stays within that limit. Dimensions: 134 mm deep × 140 mm wide × 270 mm high. That footprint fits within a standard ET 200X string — plan for the 140 mm width when laying out adjacent modules.
