Integrator's field note — SIRIUS S00 contactor
The Siemens 3RT2017-2FB41 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with a 24 VDC coil, spring-type terminals, and a 10 A rated current at 24 V. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, fitting the standard panel footprint at 45 mm wide, 70 mm tall, and 73 mm deep. The S00 frame size keeps it compact for high-density layouts — think motor control centers or conveyor junction boxes where every millimeter counts. Coil holds at 24 VDC nominal; the contactor's rated switching frequency varies by duty: up to 1 000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive loads), 750 cycles/hour at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250 cycles/hour at AC-4 (plugging/inching). For AC-3e (high-efficiency motors) it matches the 750 cycles/hour rate. That means on a conveyor line running frequent start/stop cycles, you stay within the 750/h limit — anything faster and the contactor overheats the coil or welds the main contacts. Wire range accepts 0.5 to 4 mm² solid or stranded, or 2x (0.5 to 4 mm²) for daisy-chaining. The spring-type terminals cut wiring time versus screw clamps — no torque driver needed, just strip to 8-10 mm and push in. Auxiliary switch is built in, so you get a feedback signal without an add-on block.
Mounting & integration checklist
That 6 mm side gap is tight — if you're packing multiple S00 units side-by-side, verify the enclosure's internal width allows the spacing. The 73 mm depth includes the coil terminals; leave room for wire bend radius behind the DIN rail.
