Panel fit and what the S00 frame means
The 3RT2017-4AG62 is a SIRIUS size S00 contactor — the smallest frame in the Siemens SIRIUS family, measuring 45 mm wide, 73 mm deep, and 58 mm tall. That 45 mm width is the critical dimension for rail fill in a crowded panel; it fits two units per 90 mm section of DIN rail. Clearance distances are tight: 10 mm upwards, downwards, and forwards; 6 mm at the sides.
Coil voltage and switching frequency limits
Connection is via ring cable lug, not a push-on terminal, so factor in the lug crimping step during assembly. Switching frequency depends on the duty class: 1,000 operations per hour in AC-1 (resistive loads), 750 ops/h in AC-3 (motor starting) and AC-3e, but only 250 ops/h in AC-4 (plugging/reversing/inching). If your application involves frequent jogging or reversing, that 250 ops/h ceiling is the binding constraint — not the AC-3 number. Mechanical life is rated 30 million operations typical — that's the contactor frame and mechanism, not the contacts. Contact wear depends on your actual switching current and load type; the mechanical figure just tells you the actuator won't fatigue before the contacts need inspection.
Auxiliary contact ratings at a glance
This contactor includes an auxiliary switch. That 11 A at 480 V stands out — it's the highest current rating on the list, so if you're switching a 480 V control circuit, this auxiliary can handle it.
Temperature range and storage
The wider storage range matters if this contactor sits in a cold warehouse or a non-climate-controlled shipping container before installation.
