What this SIRIUS soft starter delivers
The 3RW4024-2BB14: It carries an integrated bypass contact system, so once the motor is up to speed the thyristors are shorted out — no heat sink losses during run, and the bypass contact carries the continuous current. The control supply accepts 110-230 V DC, which covers most industrial control voltages without needing a separate supply converter.
Current derating in the panel
Derating temperature is 40 °C; above that the output must be reduced per the curve. The minimum load is 20 % of the rated current, which means it won't regulate properly on a lightly loaded motor.
Mounting and wiring constraints
Mounts on DIN rail via screw and snap-on — 45 mm wide, 150 mm tall, 155 mm deep. Clearance required: 60 mm above, 40 mm below, 15 mm at the sides. Main current circuit uses spring-loaded terminals accepting 2x (0.25-2.5 mm²) solid or 1x 8 mm² at the front clamping point. Auxiliary and control circuits also use spring-loaded terminals, 2x (24-14 AWG). No screw torque to check — just strip and push. Maximum wire length to the motor is 300 m — beyond that, voltage drop and cable capacitance can cause nuisance tripping or missed starts.
Protection and adjustability
Built-in motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are standard — no separate overload relay needed for the soft starter itself. The current limitation is adjustable, so you can set the start current to match the load and the supply capacity. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 means it's rated for industrial environments with conductive pollution — typical for control panels in factories and process plants. The storage climate class is 1K6 (occasional condensation, no salt mist, sand excluded).
Lifecycle and supply
No official successor or cross-reference is listed for this order code. The SIRIUS 3RW40 family is current; confirm the BOM line voltage and motor FLA against the derating table before committing.
