50 A at 40 °C — the real current rating for a warm panel
The 3RW4422-1BC45: The minimum load is 8 % of the motor FLA — below that the soft starter may not trigger the thyristors cleanly.
Integrated bypass and inside-delta wiring
An integrated bypass contact system means the thyristors are shorted out once the motor reaches full speed — no external bypass contactor needed, and the heat load on the panel drops to near zero during run. The unit also supports inside-delta connection, which lets a smaller-rated soft starter handle a given motor by wiring the thyristors in the delta legs rather than the line. Adjustable current limitation and motor overload protection are built in, so a separate overload relay is optional. The fault display shows the trip cause on the unit itself — no need to pull a laptop for a basic overcurrent or phase-loss read.
Mounting and clearance — fits a standard panel layout
Dimensions are 192 mm high, 170 mm wide, 270 mm deep. Fastening is screw fixing — no DIN-rail clip, so plan for a backplate with tapped holes or PEM studs. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 5 mm at the sides. The mounting position allows vertical surface with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front/back. Maximum motor cable length is 500 m. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 — suitable for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation. Operating temperature range is up to 60 °C during operation; storage range is -25 to +80 °C.
Terminal specs — main and control wiring
Auxiliary and control circuit terminals are screw-type for 2x (20... 14) AWG. The main terminals also accept 10 AWG to 1/0 AWG using both clamping points, or 10 AWG to 2/0 AWG using the front or back clamping point individually. External reset input and intrinsic device protection are standard. The thyristor stack is the switching element — no mechanical contactor wear during start.
