Continuous current at your panel ambient
The 3RW4466-2BC46: The headline rating is 2103 A at 40 °C. The derating starts at 40 °C, so the installation's ambient temperature inside the enclosure sets the usable current — not the catalogue maximum. Insulation voltage is 690 V, and the operating frequency covers 50 to 60 Hz — suitable for global line supplies without a frequency derate.
Bypass, thyristors, and wiring topology
An integrated bypass contact system means the thyristors are shorted out after the start — the unit runs at near-zero forward drop in steady state, which eliminates the need to size the enclosure for continuous thyristor heat dissipation. Inside-delta wiring is supported, which lets the starter see phase-to-phase voltage rather than phase-to-neutral — this reduces the current per thyristor path and can allow a smaller frame for the same motor current.
Mounting, clearances, and termination
Screw fixing onto a vertical mounting surface; the unit can be rotated ±90° or tilted ±22.5° front/back. Minimum clearances: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 5 mm at the sides. Main current circuit termination is busbar connection with a wire range of 70–240 mm² stranded or 50–240 mm² finely stranded, plus 2/0–500 kcmil.
Protection, control, and compliance
Motor overload protection and intrinsic device protection are built in, with adjustable current limitation. A display shows fault signals, and an external reset input allows remote clearing of trips. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 — the starter is rated for industrial environments with conductive contamination. Maximum motor cable length is 500 m. Operating temperature range is 60 °C during operation, storage from -25 to +80 °C.
