Trip class and motor protection
The 3RW5072-6AB15: Trip class is selectable between CLASS 10A, 10E (preset), and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. CLASS 10A suits standard induction motors with short acceleration times; CLASS 20E handles high-inertia loads like centrifuges or crushers where the start current must be sustained longer without nuisance tripping. The minimum load setting is 15 % of the smallest settable Ie, which allows the soft starter to protect lightly loaded motors without false overcurrent trips. A service factor of 1 means no built-in overload margin beyond the set current — the trip threshold matches the motor FLA exactly.
Fieldbus and control integration
Onboard fieldbus options include PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP, plus PROFIenergy support when paired with the PROFINET communication module. This lets the starter participate in energy-management schedules and coordinated start sequences without a separate gateway. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V (default 4-20 mA), parameterizable via the High Feature HMI. Remote reset is achieved by cycling the control supply voltage — no separate reset signal needed.
Mounting and thermal derating
Dimensions are 160 mm wide, 230 mm high, and 282 mm deep, with screw fixing to the mounting plate. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upward, 75 mm downward, 10 mm forward, 5 mm sideways, and 0 mm backward — the back can sit flush against the panel backplate. In a sealed enclosure with multiple drives, plan for forced ventilation or a larger cabinet to stay below the derating threshold.
Compliance and sourcing
No direct cross-reference to the alternate MPNs listed in the catalog — verify panel wiring before substituting.
