What this soft starter delivers
The Siemens 3RW5076-2TB04 is a hybrid soft starter rated for a minimum motor current of 200 A at 200-480 V, with a Trip Class of 10A / 10E (preset) / 20E per IEC 60947-4-2. The 10A class means it clears a locked-rotor condition within 10 seconds at 7x FLA — tight enough for pump and conveyor starts where the motor must not cook during a stall. It carries ATEX and IECEx certification, so it's approved for installation in explosive atmospheres — Zone 1 or 21 gas/dust areas where a standard starter would be a hazard source. The ATEX marking on the nameplate is the ticket for the inspector. Fieldbus options include PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET, plus PROFIenergy support when paired with the PROFINET communication module. That gives the controls integrator a single cable for start/stop, ramp time, and fault log retrieval without pulling separate control wires.
Panel fit and mounting constraints
Mounts via screw fixing to a vertical surface, with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front-to-back. The 282 mm depth, 160 mm width, and 230 mm height mean it needs a backpanel clearance of at least 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, and 5 mm at the sides — plan the enclosure depth and cable entry accordingly. In a hot panel next to a drive, budget for the derate or add forced ventilation.
Approvals include CE, UL, and CSA — the UL and CSA marks cover North American installations without a separate evaluation. The ATEX and IECEx certificates are held by the manufacturer; request the certificate copy for the project documentation package.
