Trip class and motor protection profile
The 3RW5217-3AC14 is set to Trip Class 10A by default, with selectable 10E and 20E curves per IEC 60947-4-2. Minimum load is 15 % of the smallest settable Ie, so the unit handles lightly loaded motors without dropping out of the start ramp.
Fieldbus and control network integration
This soft starter carries onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET interfaces — no separate communication module needed for most architectures. PROFINET standard with PROFIenergy support is included for energy monitoring during idle phases. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V (via the High Feature HMI), and the unit logs errors to an internal logbook when the optional accessory is fitted.
Mounting and panel clearance
Dimensions are 275 mm high, 170 mm wide, and 152 mm deep — screw-fixed to a vertical surface. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind. Mounting position allows ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front-to-back on a vertical surface, giving flexibility in tight enclosures.
Operating temperature and derating
Rated for -25 to +60 °C during operation, but derating applies above 40 °C — factor in the thermal load if the panel ambient runs hot. Shock resistance is 15 g for 11 ms; potential contact lifting starts at 12 g for 11 ms, so the unit is robust for machine-mounted installations.
Approvals and compliance
Carries UL, CSA, and CE markings — accepted for North American and European installations without additional certification steps.
