Rated voltage and current — what they mean for the motor
The 3RW5217-3TC05: The rated voltage range is 200 to 600 V, covering common low-voltage networks from 208 V to 480 V and 600 V. The minimum settable current is 15.5 A, which sets the lower bound for the motor FLA the starter can protect — below that, the overload curve cannot be calibrated.
Trip class and starting duty
Trip class is selectable: CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E, per IEC 60947-4-2. Class 20E allows a longer start, useful for high-inertia loads like conveyors or crushers.
Fieldbus connectivity — PROFIBUS, Modbus, PROFINET
The starter supports PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET natively — no separate communication module required for these protocols. This makes it a drop-in for most Siemens and third‑party PLC architectures without adding a gateway.
Pump-specific features — ramp down and soft torque
Pump Ramp Down and Soft Torque are built in. Pump Ramp Down extends the deceleration time to reduce water hammer in pump systems. Soft Torque reduces starting torque below the motor's locked-rotor torque, which is useful for conveyors or other loads that must accelerate gently.
Mounting and clearances
Minimum clearances: 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm sideways, and 0 mm backwards — the back can sit flush against the panel backplate.
Approvals and compliance
Carries CE marking, UL approval, and CSA approval — accepted across North American and European installations without additional certification work.
