Motor voltage and overload protection profile
Rated for 200-480 V AC supply, the 3RW5225-3TC04 covers the common low-voltage motor range across 230 V, 400 V, and 480 V systems — a single part number spans both European and North American line voltages. The minimum operating current of 25.5 A sets the lower bound of the motor FLA it can protect; below this threshold the overload curve cannot be set accurately, so the motor must draw at least 25.5 A at full load. Trip class is configurable as CLASS 10A (default), 10E, or 20E per IEC 60947-4-2 — this determines how long the soft starter allows locked-rotor current before tripping, with 10A being the fastest (10 seconds at 7.2× Ie) and 20E the slowest, matching the thermal capacity of the motor winding.
Fieldbus and control integration
Supports PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET — the soft starter can be dropped into virtually any industrial network topology without a separate gateway. PROFIenergy capability is available when paired with the PROFINET communication module, allowing the drive to participate in coordinated energy-saving shutdowns during production pauses. Remote reset is achieved by cycling the 24 V DC control supply voltage — no physical pushbutton access needed at the panel door.
Clearance and mounting envelope
Dimensions 306 mm height, 185 mm width, 203 mm depth — the unit occupies a standard-size panel footprint and mounts via screw fixing to a vertical surface. Required clearances: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm behind — these ensure adequate airflow for the -25 to +60 °C operating range (derating applies above 40 °C). Mounting position allows ±10° rotation and tilt forward or backward on a vertical surface, giving some flexibility in tight enclosures.
Application-specific starting profiles
Soft Torque and Pump Ramp Down are built-in features — Soft Torque reduces mechanical shock on geared loads, while Pump Ramp Down eliminates water hammer by extending the deceleration ramp on pump motors. Auto-reset is supported, meaning the starter can restart automatically after a fault clears, reducing downtime in remote or unmanned installations.
Regulatory approvals and compliance documentation
CE marking covers the European Low Voltage and EMC Directives; UL and CSA approvals cover the North American market — the part carries the marks needed for panel certification in both regions. The pollution degree is 3 per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning the unit is designed for conductive pollution environments (condensation, light dust) typical of industrial control panels without sealed enclosures.
