Trip class and motor starting duty
The 3RW5227-3AC15 ships with a default trip class of CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, with selectable 10E and 20E curves for heavier starting loads like crushers or centrifuges where the acceleration time exceeds 10 seconds. Minimum load setting is 15% of the smallest settable Ie, so it handles lightly loaded motors without nuisance tripping on the start curve.
Mounting and panel clearance
Screw-fixing mount with a vertical surface orientation; the unit is rotatable ±90° and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back, giving flexibility in tight enclosures. Clearance requirements are 100 mm upwards, 75 mm downwards, 10 mm forwards, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backwards — plan the gland plate and cable duct accordingly. Overall dimensions are 306 mm height, 185 mm width, 203 mm depth — fits standard 600 mm deep enclosures with room for the main contactor and overload above or below.
Communication and control integration
Built-in PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard interfaces mean it drops into most plant networks without a separate gateway. PROFIenergy support is available when paired with the PROFINET communication module, allowing coordinated energy management during idle phases. Analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA (default) or 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI, giving the PLC a direct current or voltage signal proportional to motor current.
Environmental and compliance
Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern — suitable for most industrial environments without additional vibration damping. Carries CE, UL, and CSA approvals, covering installations under IEC, North American, and Canadian codes without separate agency review.
