Trip class and current setting — what they mean for motor protection
The 3RW5236-6AC15: This soft starter carries a default trip class of CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, with selectable 10E or 20E for longer ramp times. The minimum set current is 81 A — that is the floor for the motor full-load current you can protect; anything below and the overload curve won't engage properly. Service factor is 1.0 — no built-in headroom for continuous overload above nameplate.
Panel fit and mounting constraints
Dimensions are 306 mm high, 185 mm wide, 203 mm deep — screw-fixing mount, not DIN-rail snap-on. The mounting position allows vertical surface with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front-to-back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 75 mm downwards, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backwards. The shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern.
Communication and control — fieldbus options
Built-in fieldbus support includes PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET (with PROFIenergy when using the PROFINET standard communication module). Analog output is configurable 4-20 mA default or 0-10 V with the High Feature HMI. Remote reset is possible by cycling the control supply voltage. Auto-reset is enabled. Pump ramp-down and soft torque are standard; torque control is not available. Firmware updates are supported.
