Motor load range and trip class
The 3RW5248-6TC05 is a SIRIUS hybrid soft starter rated for a minimum motor current of 240 A across a line voltage range of 200–600 V. That 240 A floor means it is sized for medium-horsepower motors — think 150–200 HP at 480 V — where the starting current inrush would otherwise slam the contactor and trip upstream breakers. Trip class is configurable between CLASS 10A (default), 10E, and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2.
Fieldbus and control integration
Built-in fieldbus support covers PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard — so it drops into most common control networks without an external gateway. PROFIenergy is available when paired with the PROFINET communication module, letting the drive participate in energy-management profiles during idle phases. Control supply is 24 V DC. Remote reset is supported by cycling the control supply voltage. The unit also supports firmware updates and an error logbook with special accessories — useful for commissioning diagnostics without a laptop.
Mounting, clearance, and environmental limits
Dimensions are 393 mm high × 210 mm wide × 203 mm deep. Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 10 mm in front, 0 mm behind, 75 mm below, and 5 mm at the sides — plan the panel layout accordingly. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, down to 12 g / 11 ms if contact lifting is a concern. Pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-4-2 — suitable for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation.
CE marking, UL approval, and CSA approval are all listed — covering the major North American and European regulatory jurisdictions. The service factor is 1, meaning no continuous overload margin beyond nameplate; factor this into the motor selection if the application expects occasional overloads.
