Hazardous-area motor starting — ATEX and IECEx on the nameplate
The 3RW5514-3HA05: The rated voltage range of 200-600 V covers low-voltage networks globally, including 208 V, 400 V, and 480 V systems, without requiring a different unit for each voltage tier. Trip class selection from Class 10A through 30E (per IEC 60947-4-2) lets you match the thermal overload characteristic to the motor's starting duty — Class 10A for high-inertia loads that need a fast ramp, Class 30E for heavy starts with long acceleration times.
Fieldbus integration and analog feedback
PROFIBUS DP and Modbus TCP are both on board — no external gateway needed for either protocol, which simplifies the control-network topology and reduces the component count in the panel. The analog output is configurable as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V, so it can feed motor current, voltage, or power data directly to a PLC analog input or a local panel meter without a separate signal conditioner. PROFIenergy support (via PROFINET communication modules) allows the soft starter to participate in energy-management profiles, pausing the motor during idle periods and resuming on demand.
Mounting clearances and panel layout
Required clearances: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind — the zero rear clearance means it can sit flush against the back panel, saving depth in shallow enclosures. Solid wire connections accept 1.0-2.5 mm² and 2.5-10 mm² — the larger cross-section handles the main power wiring while the smaller terminals take control and signal cables.
Global approvals — UL, CSA, and CE marking — are all confirmed, meaning the unit is accepted in North American and European installations without additional certification work.
