What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1225-1AA42-0AC0 is a 4-pole switch disconnector in an MCCB-style frame, rated for 250 A continuous at 40 °C through 50 °C with no derating. It handles AC loads up to 690 V and DC loads up to 600 V. Insulation voltage is rated at 800 V. This is a straight disconnect — no overload or short-circuit protection inside the unit, so it relies on upstream protection. The front face carries IP40 protection, fine for a clean panel environment.
Thermal performance and panel fit
The 250 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C. Above that it steps down: 243 A at 55 °C, 237 A at 60 °C, 230 A at 65 °C, and 223 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, that derating curve is the one to size against. The unit measures 70 mm deep, 140 mm wide, and 158 mm tall — a compact footprint for a 4-pole 250 A disconnect. Main circuit connection is via busbar at the front terminals.
