63 A MCCB with high interrupting capacity for line protection
The SENTRON 3VA2163-5JQ32-0AB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current across the full ambient temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to the enclosure's thermal limit. It delivers 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC, dropping to 121 kA at 415/440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That steep drop-off at 690 V means this breaker is sized for 400/480 V distribution panels where fault current stays under 121 kA; at 690 V it's limited to low-fault sub-distribution. Designed for line protection (cable/feeder protection), it includes a communication function for integration into a monitored system.
Breaking capacity and selectivity headroom
At 415 V, the 121 kA breaking capacity (Icu) puts this MCCB in the high-range class for a 63 A frame — enough to handle most transformer-fed secondary distribution without cascading. The minimum rated current is 95 A (likely the adjustable thermal-magnetic range floor), with a maximum of 756 A (the short-circuit release setting). For selectivity studies, the 187 kA at 240 V gives headroom on the low-voltage side of a 480/277 V panel; coordination curves with downstream 10 kA or 18 kA MCBs should hold without upstream trip.
Dimensions and panel fit
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for 63 A frames. Depth of 86 mm (3.39 in) leaves clearance in a 200 mm deep enclosure for rear cable access. Two auxiliary switches (HP type) are built in for status feedback to a PLC or remote I/O.
Ground-fault and auxiliary features
This variant includes summation-current ground-fault monitoring on the line conductor — it measures the vector sum of phase currents to detect leakage, not a dedicated neutral-ground sensor. The basic switch is a 3VA21635JQ320AA0 internal mechanism. No undervoltage release or trip indicator is fitted on this order code; those are separate accessory options.
