What this MCCB carries — and what it doesn't
The Siemens 3VM1080-3ED42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release, rated 80 A continuous at up to 50 °C ambient. Above that the thermal curve pulls it down — 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, 74 A at 70 °C — so if your panel runs hot, that 80 A nameplate shrinks. Breaking capacity holds at 76 kA at 240 V, drops to 53 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 8 kA at 500 V. Four poles, no N-conductor protection built in, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. Front face is IP40 — fine inside a closed panel, not for washdown.
Where it fits and what it connects to
Panel footprint is 101.6 mm wide by 130 mm tall by 70 mm deep — a standard 4-pole MCCB slot on a DIN rail or mounting plate. Rated insulation voltage is 690 V AC, max DC operational voltage is 500 V. The adjustable instantaneous pickup (li) goes up to 800 A, so you can tune it to the inrush of a motor or transformer bank without nuisance tripping. Power loss at full load is 26 W; factor that into your enclosure thermal budget.
