What it is and what it does
The SENTRON 5SM2335-6KK01 is a 3-pole residual current unit (RC unit) designed to pair with a 5SY miniature circuit breaker, forming a combined RCD/MCB assembly. It's rated 63 A at 400 V AC, with a 30 mA trip threshold and type A sensitivity — meaning it detects sinusoidal AC fault currents plus pulsating DC fault currents, which covers most modern electronic loads like VFDs, switched-mode supplies, and single-phase rectifiers. The short-time delayed characteristic (selective S-type) provides coordination with downstream devices, reducing nuisance tripping on transient leakage.
Mounting and panel fit
Snaps onto DIN rail (REG profile) in any mounting position. Occupies 3 modular width units (each 18 mm, so 54 mm total) and conforms to DIN 43880 size 1. Depth is 70 mm, width 107 mm, height 90 mm. The supply can enter from top or bottom. IP20 rating applies once the distribution board is installed with conductors connected — standard for enclosed panel use, not for open wet areas.
Thermal derating and service life
Rated current drops with ambient temperature: 58.6 A at 40 °C, 58.59 A at 45 °C, 56.7 A at 50 °C, 54.81 A at 55 °C, 53.55 A at 60 °C, 52.29 A at 65 °C, and 50.4 A at 70 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to +45 °C; storage range -40 °C to +75 °C. Mechanical service life is 10,000 switching cycles typical. Silicon-free construction, which matters for potting or conformal-coating processes that can be poisoned by silicone outgassing.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Listed as current production — no end-of-life notice on record. This is a standard catalog item in the SENTRON portfolio, not a phased-out or NRND line. Sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution; availability and current pricing confirmed at quote time.
