The Siemens 5SY7115-7 is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated at 1.6 A with a C tripping characteristic, sized for protecting branch circuits in industrial control panels and distribution boards. It snaps onto a DIN rail (18 mm per modular width) and fits any mounting position, so it drops into existing SENTRON sub-distribution without reworking the gland plate. Breaking capacity is 15 kA per EN 60898 for standard residential/commercial duty, and 50 kA per IEC 60947-2 for industrial installations where higher fault currents are expected — the 50 kA rating means it can safely interrupt a fault up to that level without cascading upstream, which simplifies coordination in a panel with a transformer-fed bus.
Thermal derating and installation
Rated 1.6 A at 35 °C, derated to 1.36 A at 60 °C — the thermal curve matters if the breaker sits in a warm enclosure or next to other heat-generating devices. Ambient range is -40 °C to 75 °C, covering most outdoor cabinet applications. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III suit it for fixed industrial installations where conductive pollution (dust, condensation) is possible. Width is 18 mm (1 modular unit), depth 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm. Combined top and bottom terminals with touch protection; sealable and halogen-free. Quick-assembly system clips onto the DIN rail without tools.
