Temperature-rated control for harsh environments
The Siemens 6AG1212-1AE40-4XB0 is the SIPLUS variant of the standard S7-1200 CPU 1212C, rated for -40 to 70 °C ambient. That range holds up to the steam and heat inside a tire-curing press enclosure where standard electronics degrade. It nails the cure recipe with the same 24 V DC supply and 1 Mbyte work memory as the base version, but tolerates the thermal cycling that kills ordinary controllers. Programmable in FBD, LAD, or SCL — pick the language that best matches the existing plant-standard logic. Three language options mean the line's control code can be maintained without retraining the electricians on a new paradigm. Integrated web server allows remote monitoring of input/output states and diagnostics over UDP/TCP. Forcing outputs is supported for commissioning stubs before the press is live.
Drop-in vs. the standard 6ES7212-1AE40-0XB0
Mechanical dimensions (100 × 90 × 75 mm) and 24 V DC power are identical to the standard CPU 1212C (6ES7212-1AE40-0XB0), so it slots into the same panel cutout and wiring loom. No rewiring or adapter plate needed. Rated for -40 to 70 °C ambient. Programming languages, I/O count, and PROFINET interface are shared between the two order codes. The only hardware add-on for legacy fieldbus is the CM 1243-5 PROFIBUS module, which both variants require.
75 mm depth leaves clearance for terminal blocks. PROFINET interface with autocrossing simplifies switchless line topologies. For existing PROFIBUS plants, order the CM 1243-5 separately — it occupies the left-side bus connector slot. Inputs accept 2-wire sensors; analog inputs handle 0 to +10 V. The PID controller block is built in, so no extra module for simple loop control on a steam valve.
