What this DQ module does in an ET 200SP rack
The 6ES7132-6BF01-2BA0 is a digital output module for the Siemens ET 200SP distributed I/O system. It provides four channels of 24 VDC sourcing outputs (DQ type), each rated up to 4 A continuous at 50 °C and the same at 60 °C — no derating between those temperatures, which is unusual for a 15 mm-wide module. The output switches from 0 to 1 in 50 µs at rated load, and from 1 to 0 in 100 µs — fast enough for most valve banks and contactor coils, but not for PWM or isochronous motion axes (MSO and PWM are both listed as No).
Base unit and wiring constraints
This module snaps onto a BU type A0 base unit — that's the standard 15 mm-wide carrier for ET 200SP. The base unit provides the backplane bus connection and the field wiring terminals. For 2-wire and 3-wire sensors, the A0 base unit handles the connections directly; for 4-wire devices you need an additional potential distributor module.
Diagnostics that save a service call
Module-wise wire-break detection is built in — it flags an open load on any channel. The diagnostic threshold range is 48 Ω to 12 kΩ, which covers most solenoid and relay coil circuits. Short-circuit to M and short-circuit to L+ are also detected module-wise, and a group error signal is generated. Diagnostic alarms are supported, and I&M data (I&M0 through I&M3) is available for asset tracking in TIA Portal. Firmware version is V0.0, and no firmware update is possible — the module ships with the factory version.
Cable length and load limits
Unshielded cable runs up to 600 m are allowed; shielded runs up to 1 000 m. The maximum lamp load switching frequency is 10 Hz — fine for indicator lamps, not for strobes or fast pulsing loads. Typical power loss is 1 W. The minimum signal-1 voltage is L+ minus 0.8 V, so at 24 V supply the output holds above 23.2 V at rated current — enough margin for most 24 VDC loads.
