Safety-rated input slice for ET 200SP
This 6ES7136-6BA01-0CA0 is an ET 200SP fail-safe digital input module (F-DI 8×24V) rated SIL 3 per IEC 61508, meaning it can be used in safety functions up to that integrity level — emergency stops, light curtain monitoring, or two-hand control circuits where the machine must detect a fault within the safety reaction time. It takes 8 digital inputs at 24 V DC nominal, with a signal "1" threshold of +15 to +30 V and a signal "0" range of -30 to +5 V, so it works with standard 24 V sensors and NPN/PNP field devices as long as the common reference is set correctly.
Signal timing and diagnostic coverage
Input filtering is parameterizable between 0.4 ms and 20 ms for both rising and falling edges — the 0.4 ms minimum lets you catch fast sensor pulses (e.g., from a proximity switch on a high-speed indexing conveyor), while the 20 ms maximum debounces mechanical contacts without a separate filter block. Diagnostic coverage includes a per-channel status LED (green), a module diagnostics LED (green/red DIAG), and a red channel-error LED — the diagnostic alarm reports wire-break or short-circuit to the safety CPU, which can trigger a safe state without polling each input. Galvanic isolation is tested at 707 V DC type test between channels and the backplane bus, so a fault on one field circuit won't propagate to the rest of the rack.
Shielded cable runs up to 1000 m are allowed; unshielded up to 500 m, so you can place the module near the field devices in a local cabinet rather than pulling long sensor cables back to the main panel. The 24 V DC supply draws 40 mA without load and the module dissipates 2 W typical, so the station power budget needs to account for this slice plus the BaseUnit's own consumption.
I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) is supported, so the module identifies itself to TIA Portal and the HMI for asset tracking without manual label checks.
