SIL 3 fail-safe power module for ET 200SP
The Siemens 6ES7136-6PA00-0BC0 is an ET 200SP F-PM-E fail-safe power module that supplies the module bus and provides two fail-safe digital outputs, rated SIL 3 per IEC 61508. It accepts a 24 V DC supply with a tolerance of L+ (-1.5 V) minimum, so it runs cleanly on a regulated 24 V bus without needing a separate power supply.
The two fail-safe outputs are rated 0.3 A each at up to 60 °C, and the total encoder supply current is 600 mA. The load impedance range is 3 Ω to 2000 Ω, so it drives solenoids, contactors, and indicator lamps within that window. Lamp load switching is limited to 4 Hz symmetrical. Input thresholds are -30 to +5 V for signal "0" and +15 to +30 V for signal "1", with a typical current draw of 3.7 mA at 24 V. The input filter is non-parameterizable with a 0.4 ms minimum and 20 ms maximum transition time — fast enough for most safety sensor signals but not for high-speed encoder counting. There is no channel-to-channel isolation between the outputs, so both outputs share a common reference. Isolation is tested at 707 V DC type test. The module draws 5 W typical power loss, which adds to the cabinet thermal budget.
Integration notes
The module supports I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) for asset tracking and automatic encoding for slot identification. Diagnostic alarms and a red ERROR LED plus green RUN LED give on-module status without needing the CPU. The diagnostics function covers alarms and diagnostic messages per the manual. Unshielded cable runs up to 500 m, shielded up to 1000 m. The module has overload protection on the outputs. No hardware interrupt is supported.
