What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 6ES7193-6BP20-2DA0 is a SIMATIC ET 200SP BaseUnit — the mechanical and electrical backbone that seats an I/O module and connects it to the backplane bus and field wiring. This BU15-P16+A10+2D variant (type A0) provides 16 process terminals for the I/O module, 10 AUX bus terminals, and 2 terminals tied to the / bus, plus it creates a new potential group (isolated from the left). It ships in a pack of 10 units. Rated at 24 V DC, the AUX bus carries up to 10 A, and the / bus also handles 10 A. The process terminals are rated for 2 A max. External protection for the supply lines calls for a 24 V DC / 10 A miniature circuit breaker with type B or C tripping characteristic — don't skip it.
Wiring and environmental limits
Terminals are push-in type, accepting 0.14 mm² to 2.5 mm² (AWG 26 to AWG 14) solid or ferruled stranded wire. No screwdriver needed for the wire entry — push in and it latches; release via the orange pushbutton. The system-integrated shield connection is optional, so you can tie cable shields directly at the BaseUnit if your I/O module supports it. Operating temperature range depends on orientation: horizontally mounted, it runs from -30 °C to 60 °C; vertically mounted, the max drops to 50 °C. Installation altitude goes up to 5 000 m, with derating above 2 000 m per the manual. Isolation is type-tested at 707 V DC between potential groups. HW functional status from FS07 — check your I/O module's FS compatibility if you're mixing generations on the same rail.
