Output type and load drive
The 6ES7522-1BP50-0AA0 is a digital output module for the S7-1500 system, providing both standard DQ (digital output) and MSO (motor starter output) functionality. The outputs are current-sinking (PNP sourcing is not supported), so the module switches the load to ground — verify your field device common configuration. Each channel drives loads in the 80 Ω to 10 kΩ resistance range at 24 VDC. The module delivers 8 A total continuously at both 40 °C and 60 °C ambient, so no derating is needed across the typical panel temperature band.
Switching dynamics and diagnostics
Turn-on time is 100 µs max; turn-off is 500 µs max. The module does not support PWM, oversampling, or isochronous mode — it is a straightforward on/off output intended for solenoid valves, contactors, and indicator lamps rather than high-speed positioning or pulsed loads. No diagnostic alarm, no wire-break detection, and no short-circuit detection per channel. The module reports group errors via the red ERROR LED on the front. For applications that need per-channel diagnostics, a different S7-1500 DQ variant with diagnostic function would be required.
Integration and accessories
The module occupies a single S7-1500 slot at 35 mm wide, 147 mm tall, 129 mm deep. It ships without cabling — the front connector and cable are ordered separately per the system design. Unshielded cable runs up to 600 m, shielded up to 1 000 m. Firmware version V1.0.0 is field-upgradable via the memory card or TIA Portal. The module supports I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3) for asset tracking and identification in larger plants.
