PROFIBUS DP master/slave for ET 200SP
The Siemens 6ES7545-5DA00-0AB0 is a PROFIBUS DP communication module for the ET 200SP distributed I/O system, acting as both DP master and DP slave on the same module. It supports DPV1, the extended PROFIBUS profile for parameter and diagnostic data, and pushes data at up to 12 Mbit/s over RS 485. That 12 Mbit/s ceiling is the line speed you need when the bus is carrying 244 bytes of input and 244 bytes of output data per cycle — the module's address area handles up to 128 bytes per slave, and you can hang 125 DP slaves off this one interface.
Power and environmental limits
Rated supply is 24 V DC with a permissible range of 19.2 V to 28.8 V DC, and reverse polarity protection is built in — the module will not smoke if the 24 V pair is swapped. Above 2 000 m altitude there are restrictions detailed in the manual; the absolute ceiling is 5 000 m.
Routing and diagnostics
S7 routing, PG/OP communication, and SIMATIC communication are supported, but only when an active interface is present — the module itself does not route without a CPU that provides the active backplane connection. Data record routing is enabled, and direct data exchange (slave-to-slave communication) works, though the module can only act as a passive publisher, not an active subscriber. Diagnostics are comprehensive: the module supports the full diagnostics function and reports via the DIAG LED.
