22 kW rated power — what the 150% overload buys you
The 6SL3210-1KE24-4UF1 delivers 22.0 kW continuous with a 150% overload capability for 3 seconds. That overload ceiling handles short-duration peak loads — crusher stalls, conveyor jams, or pump start-up inertia — without tripping on overcurrent. For applications that need sustained overload (e.g., 110% for 60 s), the drive's thermal model uses the I²t accumulator; the 3-second window is for transient events only. Input range is 3AC 380-480 V +10/-20% at 47-63 Hz, covering most European 400 V and North American 480 V industrial mains without a step-down transformer. The unfiltered input means the drive does not include an internal EMC filter — for CE-compliant installations, an external line filter (Siemens 6SL3200-0BE32-5DA0 or equivalent) is required to meet conducted emission limits.
I/O and fieldbus — no expansion slot, so count your signals
The G120C compact frame integrates 6 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs, 1 analog input, and 1 analog output. There is no option slot for additional I/O — if your application needs more than these 10 signals, you step up to the SINAMICS G120 (chassis format) or add a remote I/O station via PROFINET. The analog input accepts 0-10 V or 0/4-20 mA; the analog output is configurable for actual speed, current, or torque. PROFINET-PN is integrated on the control board — no communication module to buy, no slot to occupy. The drive cycles at 1 ms typical for motion-control applications; for standard V/f or vector control, the bus cycle time can be relaxed to 4-8 ms to reduce CPU load on the controller.
Safe Torque Off — integrated, no external safety relay needed
Safe Torque Off (STO) is built into the drive, certified to SIL 3 / PL e. It removes the need for an external safety contactor or safety relay in most emergency-stop circuits — the drive's power stage is disabled at the gate-drive level, preventing motor torque even if the output transistors short. Two-channel STO input via the terminal block; the drive's safe state is maintained without 24 V applied to the control logic. External 24 VDC is mandatory for the control logic — the drive does not bootstrap from the DC bus. A separate 24 V supply (typically 2 A for this frame size) powers the control board, I/O, and fieldbus interface. Without it, the drive will not communicate or accept run commands, even with main power applied.
Size FSD — cabinet space and mounting
The FSD frame measures 472 x 200 x 237 mm (H x W x D). This is the largest G120C frame; verify cabinet depth allows for the 237 mm projection plus cable bending radius at the top and bottom. DIN-rail mounting is standard — the drive clips onto a 35 mm rail per EN 60715. IP20 / UL Open Type means it is for cabinet installation only; not rated for washdown or outdoor use.
Active production — sourcing posture
RoHS compliant since 2017-02-13. REACH Article 33 disclosure: the product contains lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1% w/w in certain components — declare to downstream users in EU markets if the article is placed on the market. Export control classification AL:N / ECCN:9N9999 — no special license required for most destinations, but end-use restrictions apply (not for nuclear, military, or weapons applications).
