What this PM240-2 delivers that a bare drive module cannot
The 6SL3210-1PH31-2AL0 is a SINAMICS G120 Power Module PM240-2 with a built-in Class A EMC filter and an integrated braking chopper — two features that, on many competing VFDs, are optional external add-ons that eat panel space and add wiring. For a 90 kW high-overload drive at 500-690 V three-phase input, having the filter and chopper inside the module simplifies the panel layout and reduces the component count for the builder. High overload rating: 90 kW continuous with 200% current for 3 seconds, 150% for 57 seconds, and 100% for 240 seconds, all at ambient -20 to +50°C. Low overload rating: 110 kW continuous with 150% for 3 seconds, 110% for 57 seconds, and 100% for 240 seconds at -20 to +40°C. The overload curves match typical pump, fan, and conveyor duty cycles — the 200% spike handles jam starts without nuisance tripping.

Integration constraints — no Control Unit, no panel
This Power Module ships without a Control Unit (CU) and without the operator panel. It requires a separate CU (e.g., CU240E-2 or CU250S-2) to function — the module is just the power stage and I/O interface. Firmware version V4.7 HF8 is approved for the CU. Dimensions: 708 x 305 x 357 mm (HxWxD), IP20 protection. The built-in Class A filter means the drive meets EN 61800-3 Category C2 conducted emissions without an external filter — a time-saver for CE-marked panels. The braking chopper is rated for the internal DC bus; an external braking resistor must still be added for dynamic braking duty.
