450 kW on a pump curve — what the overload stack means
The 6SL3220-1YE62-1CB0: Rated 450 kW continuous with a 135 % overload for 3 s or 110 % for 60 s (100 % for 240 s). That profile matches the starting and transient demands of centrifugal pumps and fans — high inrush at start, then a steady-state load that rarely exceeds nameplate. The 135 % window is short enough that the IGBT junction temperature stays inside the SOA; the 60 s 110 % window covers a blocked-impeller recovery or a damper swing without tripping.
Built-in BACnet and MODBUS — no extra comms module
Fieldbus is integrated on the control board: MODBUS RTU, BACnet MS/TP, and USS. That means the drive talks directly to a BAS or SCADA without a separate communication module — one less part to source, one less slot in the panel. The BACnet MS/TP physical layer is RS-485 at up to 76.8 kbaud; MODBUS RTU runs on the same terminals with a parameter change. The IO expansion is also on board, so the 450 kW drive ships ready to wire into a BMS network.
RFI filter C3 — saves a line reactor on IT mains
The built-in RFI suppression filter is rated for category C3 (industrial environment with separate neutral/PE). That means it meets EN 61800-3 conducted emission limits for second-environment (industrial) installations without an external filter. If the drive goes into a residential or first-environment supply (TN-S with long cable runs), you will need an external C2 or C1 filter ahead of it — but for a standard plant-floor or water-treatment building, the internal filter is sufficient.
Active production — no LTB clock ticking
Lifecycle status is active per Siemens. No last-time-buy notice, no end-of-life horizon in the public record. The product class is C (manufactured/produced to order), so Siemens builds it against a confirmed order rather than holding finished stock — expect a lead time that reflects the build queue. The export control classification is AL:N / ECCN EAR99H, so no ITAR restriction for cross-border procurement.
Compliance paperwork — RoHS and REACH
RoHS compliant since 11 March 2020. REACH Article 33 duty to inform applies: the drive contains lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1 % w/w in certain components — standard for power semiconductors with tin-lead solder or leaded glass in the IGBT module. The declaration is available on request; the drive is not exempt from RoHS but the lead content is declared per the candidate list.
