315 kW at 500–690 V — HVAC/water infrastructure drive
The 6SL3220-1YH56-1CB0 is a SINAMICS G120X infrastructure converter rated at 315 kW with a 135% overload for 3 seconds or 110% for 60 seconds, 100% for 240 seconds. It operates from a 3-phase 500–690 V AC supply at 47–63 Hz, making it a fit for large pump, fan, and compressor loads in HVAC, water, and wastewater installations where the supply voltage runs above 480 V. The drive ships in size FSH with IP20 / UL open type protection — plan for a clean, dry electrical room or a dedicated MCC enclosure. The integrated RFI suppression filter meets category C3, so it's suited for industrial environments with a dedicated transformer secondary; check the local EMC coordination requirements before committing to a TN or IT system.
Fieldbus and IO — BMS-ready out of the box
MODBUS RTU, BACnet MS/TP, and USS are all on-board — no option card needed for building management system integration. The drive also includes an IO expansion slot, though it ships without an operator panel, so plan for remote HMI or a PC-based commissioning tool for parameterization. The ambient temperature range is 0 to +45 °C without derating. If the panel ambient pushes above that, factor in a ventilation or cooling plan — the FSH frame dissipates heat through the backplate, and the IP20 enclosure needs airflow clearance around the heatsink fins.
Active production, made-to-order — plan the lead time
The lifecycle status is active and the product stage is listed as mature, meaning Siemens continues to manufacture and support this drive. However, the product class is C — manufactured/produced to order, not stocked as a standard catalog item. This means the drive is built per order and cannot be returned for credit, so confirm the BOM quantity and voltage rating before placing the PO. RoHS compliance is confirmed since March 2020. The REACH Article 33 declaration notes lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1% w/w — this is typical for power electronics with leaded solder or component terminations and should be factored into any end-of-life recycling documentation.
