450 kW drive for HVAC and water infrastructure
The Siemens 6SL3220-2YH62-1CB0 is a SINAMICS G120X infrastructure converter rated for 450 kW at 500-690 VAC, 3-phase input, with a 135% overload for 3 seconds or 110% for 60 seconds, and 100% for 240 seconds. This is the drive for large pump, fan, and compressor loads in HVAC, water, and wastewater plants where the voltage class and overload profile match the driven equipment's duty cycle. The unit ships in size FSH with IP20 / UL open-type protection, meaning it mounts inside a clean, dry electrical room or MCC lineup — not in a washdown zone. The built-in RFI suppression filter meets category C3 for the 500-690 VAC range, which is standard for industrial environments with a dedicated transformer.
Fieldbus and operator interface
Factory-fitted with a Basic Operator Panel (BOP) and IO expansion, plus integrated MODBUS RTU, BACnet MS/TP, and USS fieldbus. For a building-automation or SCADA retrofit, the BACnet MS/TP port connects directly to the BMS trunk without a gateway — the drive appears as a BACnet device on the MS/TP segment. The IO expansion provides additional digital and analog I/O points beyond the standard terminal block, reducing the need for a separate remote I/O rack for local interlocks and feedback signals.
Lifecycle and compliance
RoHS compliant since March 2020. REACH Article 33 disclosure applies — the candidate list includes lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1% w/w, which is standard for power-semiconductor and electrolytic-capacitor content in a drive of this rating.
