450 kW overload profile — what the duty cycle means for your pump or fan
The 6SL3220-3YE62-0CB0: This SINAMICS G120X drive is rated 450 kW with a 135% overload for 3 seconds, 110% for 60 seconds, and 100% continuous for 240 seconds. That overload profile is tailored for variable-torque loads like centrifugal pumps and fans where the peak demand is brief — a soft-start ramp or a momentary surge when a valve cracks open. It is not a constant-torque drive for conveyors or extruders; those loads would hit the 110% ceiling and stay there, which this drive is not sized for.
Built-in fieldbus for building automation
MODBUS RTU, BACnet MS/TP, and USS are integrated on the standard unit — no plug-in communication module needed. That saves a slot and a wiring step when the drive talks to a BAS head-end or a BMS controller. The BACnet MS/TP interface means this drive drops directly into a BACnet network without a gateway, which is the main reason the G120X family exists. The RFI suppression filter is category C3 for 3AC 380-480 V. C3 is the industrial conducted-emission limit — it assumes the drive is fed from a dedicated transformer or an IT system, not a residential or public low-voltage grid. If the installation is a commercial building with a shared utility feed, you may need an external C2 filter or an isolation transformer ahead of the drive.
