PM250 power module — regenerative drive with built-in filter
The 6SL3225-0BE34-5AA0 is a SINAMICS G120 Power Module PM250 with a built-in Class A EMC filter and regenerative capability, rated for 3-phase 380-480 VAC input at 47-63 Hz. This is the variant that can return energy to the line during deceleration — the regenerative function is built into the power stage, not an add-on braking module, which holds the unit on the grid during overhauling loads on conveyors or hoists. Output duty is specified in two bands: high overload delivers 45 kW continuous with 200 % for 3 seconds, 150 % for 57 seconds, and 100 % for 240 seconds at 0 to +50 °C ambient. Light overload delivers 55 kW continuous with 150 % for 3 seconds, 110 % for 57 seconds, and 100 % for 240 seconds at 0 to +40 °C ambient. The overload profile matters for sizing — a centrifuge or crusher that pulls 200 % torque for a few seconds on start-up needs the high-overload rating, not the light-overload figure.
Physical fit and enclosure integration
The module measures 934 x 350 x 316 mm (H x W x D) with packaging dimensions of 1,200 x 400 x 620 mm, and carries an IP20 protection rating — meaning it requires installation inside a cabinet or enclosure that provides the environmental seal. The FSF format (Frame Size F) determines the mounting hole pattern and bus-bar interface on the heatsink backplane; the gland plate area at the bottom of the cabinet must accommodate the incoming mains and motor cables for the 45-55 kW output level. The built-in Class A filter means this module meets conducted emission limits for industrial environments without an external filter module, saving one DIN-rail slot and the associated wiring. The regenerative capability eliminates the need for an external braking chopper and resistor for applications where the deceleration energy can be fed back into the supply — a consideration for the panel builder wiring the DC-bus and braking terminals.
Compliance and documentation
RoHS compliance is confirmed since 18 May 2016. REACH Article 33 disclosure notes lead (CAS 7439-92-1) above 0.1 % w/w in the product — this is typical for power semiconductors with leaded solder terminations and does not affect normal industrial use, but the declaration must be passed to the end customer under REACH obligations. Export control is AL: N / ECCN: 9N9999, meaning no special licensing for most destinations.
