High overload is the figure that governs sizing for pumps, fans, and conveyors with intermittent peak torque — the module delivers the 150% headroom without tripping, then settles to continuous rated current within the 240 s recovery window. Light overload suits constant-torque applications like compressors where the peak demand stays close to the nameplate.
NRND — still available, but not for new designs
Siemens lists this power module as NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) with a lifecycle stage of 'mature' — it remains a stockable item (product class A) and is available through distribution for existing BOMs and spares, but Siemens will not support it for new project qualifications. For an existing installation, the module is still orderable and the firmware (V4.6, approved with CU230P-2) is stable.
FSGX frame — panel logistics and integration
The FSGX frame measures 1447 x 452 x 328 mm (HxWxD) — this is a large cabinet-mount module, not a wall-mount unit. Plan for a floor-standing enclosure with a rear gland plate and overhead busbar access. IP20 protection means it is intended for a clean, dry electrical room; no washdown rating. The module ships without a line filter or built-in braking chopper — those are external add-ons if the application requires them. Export control is AL N / ECCN 9N9999, so no special licensing for most destinations.
