The ABB 1SFA894014R7020 is a PST300-series soft starter rated for 300 A in-line connection (Ie), delivering 160 kW at 400 V in that configuration. For inside-delta wiring, the current rating climbs to 515 A and power to 257 kW at 400 V — a common topology for larger motors where the starter sees phase current rather than line current. The built-in electronic overload protection eliminates the need for a separate overload relay, saving panel space and wiring. Control supply is 100...250 V AC, with a separate 24 V DC control circuit for logic-level interfacing. The ramp time is adjustable from 0 to 120 seconds, and initial voltage during start can be set between 30 and 70 % — enough range to handle high-inertia loads like conveyors or centrifuges without mechanical shock.
Integration notes
Main circuit connections use bars with a 10.2 mm hole diameter; control and supply circuits accept rigid 1 x 2.5 mm² wire. Tightening torque for the control circuit is 0.5 N·m. The starter includes signal relays for run, fault, bypass, and overload status, plus yellow and red LEDs for protection and fault indication. Communication is via a standard FieldBusPlug, and analog output is 0...10 V for speed or current feedback to a PLC or drive.
