The ABB 1SFA896205R7000 is a PSRC9-series soft starter that uses a voltage-ramp start profile to reduce inrush current and mechanical shock on three-phase induction motors. It operates on a 208-600 V AC supply at 50/60 Hz, with a fixed ramp time and a starting capacity of 4x the rated motor current Ie for 6 seconds — enough for most centrifugal pumps, fans, and light-conveyor starts that don't need a current-limit function. Control power is separate: the unit accepts 100-240 V AC for the main control supply and a 24 V DC control circuit for the logic interface. A green LED indicates running, ramping, and completed-start states. The run signal relay is present; there is no fault, by-pass, or overload signal relay onboard.
No official replacement or successor order code is published. The PSRC9 family remains active, so the 1SFA896205R7000 is the current build for this rating.
Integration notes
Terminals are screw-type: main circuit accepts 2 x 0.75-1.5 mm² rigid, control circuit 1 x 0.75-2.5 mm² rigid. Tighten control-circuit terminals to 1 N·m (8.9 in·lb). The optional FiledBusPlug communication module can be added for network integration, but the base unit has no onboard fieldbus. There is no integrated electronic overload protection. The manufacturer recommends an external MS116 manual motor starter set to 6.30-10.00 A as the overload device. The soft starter's IP20 finger-safe terminals suit enclosure-mounting; the unit itself is not rated for washdown environments.
