The DRV.MI.C series is ABB's compact disconnect range for motor branch circuits, sized to fit alongside contactors and overload relays on a DIN rail.
The 220 A rating on a 2-pole disconnect covers the full-load current of a medium motor or a resistive load branch. In a motor circuit, the disconnect must be sized to handle locked-rotor current during starting — 220 A on the switch side gives headroom for a motor drawing around 180 A FLA under AC-23A duty, which is the standard utilization category for motor disconnects. The 2-pole configuration suits single-phase or DC applications, or two poles of a three-phase system where the third pole is switched separately.
The DRV.MI.C form factor is designed for panel integration alongside ABB's contactor and overload families, with a common terminal pitch that simplifies busbar connection. Verify the enclosure depth accommodates the switch handle throw before panel layout.
