What this 10 A Curve C MCB does in a panel
The ABB S403M-C10 is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker from the S400 SMISSLIN family, rated 10 A with a Trip Curve C characteristic at 240 VAC.
The closest peer in the S200 family is the S203-D13 — same 3-pole DIN-rail footprint, same 10 kA interrupting rating, but a D curve (10×–20× In) instead of C, and rated 277 VAC instead of 240 VAC. The D curve is for high-inrush loads like large motors or welding equipment. If your panel was specified around an S203-D13, the S403M-C10 will physically drop into the same DIN-rail slot without rewiring — same pole count, same mounting. The functional difference is the trip curve: if your load is moderate inrush (pumps, fans, general distribution), the C curve is a better fit; if it's high inrush, stick with D. The S403M-C10 also carries the SMISSLIN design, which is ABB's tool-free plug-in system for the S400 range — the S203 family uses a different terminal interface.
What compliance documentation is available
ABB provides standard compliance documentation for the S400 series: RoHS and REACH declarations are available on request. The MCB is designed and tested to IEC/EN 60898-1 and IEC/EN 60947-2. For specific UL or CSA listings, check the variant suffix — the standard S403M-C10 is typically CE-marked for European installations. Documentation is supplied with the part or available as a PDF upon request.
