The ABB S800-SOR24 is a shunt release for the S800 series of molded-case circuit breakers, designed to trip the breaker remotely when a 24 VAC signal is applied to its coil. This is the part that sits in the accessory slot on the breaker and provides an electrical trip path separate from the overcurrent mechanism — useful for emergency-stop circuits or supervisory control systems where a contact closure from a safety relay or PLC output needs to open the breaker.
Integration Note
Mounts into the accessory slot on any S800 frame breaker. The 24 VAC coil draws from a control transformer or separate 24 VAC supply; verify the control circuit's VA rating can handle the inrush. The shunt release occupies the left-side accessory bay and does not interfere with the rotary handle mechanism or the auxiliary contact position.
