What the 16 A rating means for fit
For a panel builder or MRO planner, this sets the upper limit for the protected branch circuit — wire the load so its full-load amps stay below 16 A, and size the upstream feeder breaker to coordinate. In a motor branch circuit, 16 A typically covers a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) three-phase induction motor at 400 V, but always check the actual motor FLA against the breaker's trip curve.
