This RIO drop adapter bridges the Quantum backplane to a remote I/O network, converting parallel backplane signals to a serial 1544 Mbit/s stream over 75 Ohm coaxial cable. The 35 dB dynamic range defines the usable signal-to-noise margin on the link; a lower figure would indicate a noisier or longer cable run. The module draws 3.8 W from the backplane and switches 0.75 A on its auxiliary outputs. Two elbowed female connectors accept redundant coaxial cables for ring or star topologies; the conformal coating (Humiseal 1A33) protects against condensation and airborne contaminants in unsealed enclosures.
