Overview

The 140NOC78000 is a Modicon Quantum Ethernet I/O head module that speaks both Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP on a single RJ45 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX port, supporting redundant ring or daisy-chain loop topologies with Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). It handles up to 128 connections and draws its supply from the rack backplane, with an embedded web server for diagnostics.

Schneider discontinued the 140NOC78000 on 2023-07-17; it is no longer in active production and must be sourced through surplus or broker channels. No official successor is listed; for an existing Quantum rack, the module remains a drop-in replacement for the 140CPU6xxxx controller family, but new designs should consider current Modicon offerings.

Integration

Mounts in a standard Quantum rack slot; power comes from the backplane — no external supply needed. The single RJ45 port handles both protocols; configure the topology (redundant ring or daisy chain) via the embedded web server.
