The Schneider Electric A9F68250 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the Acti9 iT60 series, rated 50 A with a C-curve trip characteristic. The thermal-magnetic trip unit protects against overload and short-circuit, and the toggle switch includes a trip-indicator flag for quick fault identification on the panel face.
This breaker carries dual-standard certification to EN/IEC 60947-2 (industrial) and EN/IEC 60898-1 (domestic/similar), so its breaking capacity is stated under both. Under 60947-2, the ultimate breaking capacity (Icu) reaches 36 kA at 12–133 V AC, 20 kA at 220–240 V, 10 kA at 380–415 V, and 6 kA at 440 V. Under 60898-1, the rated short-circuit capacity (Icn) is 10 kA at 400 V. For a typical 230/400 V distribution panel, the 10 kA Icu at 415 V gives you headroom above the standard 6 kA domestic requirement — useful for industrial sub-distribution where fault levels run higher. The limitation class is 3 per EN/IEC 60898-1, meaning it limits let-through energy enough to protect downstream equipment in most residential and light commercial installations.
C-curve and coordination
The C-curve magnetic trip fires at 8 x In (±20%), so the 50 A breaker trips instantaneously between roughly 320 A and 480 A. The utilisation category is A (non-selectivity for short-circuit with downstream breakers), so for full selectivity you'd coordinate upstream with a higher-rated or time-delayed device.
Installation and wiring notes
Mounts on DIN rail with a removable comb busbar for daisy-chaining phases. Terminals accept 1–35 mm² rigid or 1–25 mm² flexible wire; strip length is 14 mm. The IP20 B finger-safe terminals are fine for enclosed panels — no special shrouding needed. Ambient operating range is -35 to 70 °C, storage -40 to 85 °C, with 95% relative humidity and tropicalisation level 2 per EN/IEC 60068-2-78.
