The Schneider Electric A9K23650 is a 50 A, curve B, 1P+N miniature circuit breaker from the Acti9 iK60N series, rated for 6 kA breaking capacity at 230 V AC per EN/IEC 60898-1.
In a panel with multiple breakers ganged together, derate per the manufacturer's table — typically 10–15 % if the ambient exceeds 40 °C or if the breaker is sandwiched between loaded units. For installations where the prospective short-circuit current (PSCC) at the breaker's location exceeds 6 kA, you need a higher-rated device upstream or a current-limiting fuse. The limitation class 3 rating means this breaker limits let-through energy to a level that protects downstream equipment during a fault. The 1P+N configuration switches the phase and switches the neutral, but the neutral pole is not protected — it opens and closes with the phase but does not have an overcurrent trip element. This is common in single-phase final distribution where the neutral is solidly bonded at the panel. The neutral position is left, which matters when aligning busbar connections in a multi-pole assembly.
The 36 mm width (4 modules) fits standard distribution board cutouts. Terminals accept 1 to 35 mm² rigid wire; strip 14 mm and torque to 3.5 N·m. The toggle actuator provides local ON/OFF indication. A padlocking device can be fitted to lock the breaker in the OFF position for lockout/tagout procedures.
