What it is and what it does
The Schneider Electric A9KF71250BQ is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the Acti9 K60 series, rated 50 A with a C curve and a 10 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC per EN/IEC 60898-1. The C curve (magnetic trip between 5 and 10 x In) makes it the standard choice for general-purpose distribution circuits feeding resistive and moderate inductive loads — lighting, socket outlets, small motors — where inrush isn't extreme. The 10 kA Icn at 415 V AC means it safely interrupts a fault of that magnitude without upstream cascading, provided the supply-side breaker is coordinated. It is marked as suitable for isolation, so it can serve as a local disconnect when locked off.
Integration and mounting
Snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail, occupies 4 modules of 9 mm pitch (36 mm total width). Tunnel-type terminals accept 1–35 mm² rigid or 1–25 mm² flexible conductors; tighten to 3.5 N.m. Strip 14 mm of insulation for a clean connection. The IP20 finger-safe front is fine for enclosed distribution boards — not for wet or dusty environments. The 70 mm depth fits standard shallow enclosures without crowding the gland plate.
Environmental and compliance notes
Rated for pollution degree 2 and overvoltage category II, which covers most fixed-installation distribution panels. Tropicalisation class 2 per IEC 60068-1 means it withstands 95 % relative humidity at 55 °C — suitable for non-condensing indoor environments in warm climates. Operating altitude up to 2000 m, no derating needed for most sites. The thermal-magnetic trip unit gives 10,000 electrical and 20,000 mechanical cycles — plenty for a distribution MCB that sees infrequent switching.
