Switch disconnector for control circuits
The Schneider Electric A9KS15140BQ is a 1-pole Acti9 SW switch disconnector rated 40 A at 240 V AC 50/60 Hz, built to IEC 60947-3. The AC-22A utilisation category means it is designed for switching mixed resistive and inductive loads in control circuits — not for motor starting (that is AC-3 territory). It makes and breaks load current, not fault current; the rated short-circuit making capacity is 0.6 kA as a stand-alone switch-disconnector, so upstream protection (a circuit breaker or fuse) must coordinate to keep it within its 480 A short-time withstand for 300 ms.
Fixed mounting on a DIN rail, IP20 finger-safe enclosure. Strip length 9 mm, tightening torque 3.5 N·m. The toggle control gives positive visual indication of contact position. Downstream busbar compatibility is biconnect type. Ambient operating range -5 to 55 °C, storage -25 to 85 °C, with 95% relative humidity at 55 °C (tropicalisation class 2). Pollution degree 2 environment — suitable for standard control panels, not for conductive dust or condensation-prone locations.
