The Schneider Electric A9L00022 is a Type 2 surge arrester cartridge from the Acti9 series, designated C Neutral-460. It is a plug-in cartridge for the iPRD SPD base, designed to clamp surge voltages on IT earthing systems. The voltage protection level (Up) is under 2 kV, and response time is under 25 ns — fast enough to clamp a lightning-induced transient before it reaches downstream electronics. The GDT (gas discharge tube) technology means it handles repeated surges with low leakage in normal operation, but it has a finite life; the white/red flag indicator shows when the cartridge is spent.
Because it is obsolete, the buyer should also evaluate the official successor or a functionally equivalent Type 2 cartridge from the same Acti9 family that fits the iPRD base. The standards compliance (EN 61643-11, IEC 61643-11:2011) and CE marking carry over to the replacement, so the panel certification is not disrupted by the swap.
The cartridge is 18 mm wide, 60 mm deep, 60 mm high, and plugs into the iPRD SPD module. The 18 mm width is one standard DIN-rail module pitch, so it occupies a single slot in the distribution board. The PBT housing is rated for the thermal stress of repeated surge events. The white (RAL 9003) colour is standard for Schneider's Acti9 range, making visual inspection of the flag indicator straightforward against the panel background.
