The Schneider Electric A9L15683 is a Type 2 surge arrester from the Acti9 iPF range, designed for distribution networks in small commercial installations. It uses MOV (metal oxide varistor) technology to clamp transient overvoltages on a 230 V AC (+/- 10 %) at 50/60 Hz system, with a maximum continuous operating voltage (Uc) of 340 V common mode on L/PE and N/PE. Rated for a nominal discharge current (In) of 20 kA common mode and a maximum discharge current (Imax) of 65 kA L/PE, it limits voltage surges to a protection level (Up) of under 1.5 kV common mode — sufficient to protect downstream equipment in TT and TN-C earthing systems.
The arrester clips onto a DIN rail (clip-on mounting) and occupies a 17.7 mm width (2 x 9 mm pitches) with a depth of 69 mm and height of 80.8 mm. Tunnel-type terminals on both top and bottom accept 2.5 to 35 mm² conductors; tightening torque is 2.5 N·m. The white housing (RAL 9003) carries an IK03 impact rating per IEC 62262.
The A9L15683 is designed to be paired with an associated circuit breaker for disconnection — compatible options include the iC60N, iC60H, NG125N, NG125H, or NG125L, all 50 A curve C with Icu ratings from 10 kA up to 50 kA. It carries quality labels OVE, KEMA-KEUR, and NF, and complies with EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11.
