The Schneider Electric A9L15695 is an Acti9 iPF8 Type 2 + 3 surge arrester in a 1P+N configuration, designed for 230 V AC distribution networks (TT, TN-S earthing systems). It uses a hybrid MOV + GDT technology to clamp both common-mode and differential-mode surges, with a maximum discharge current of 8 kA per mode and a nominal discharge current of 2.5 kA per mode. The maximum continuous operating voltage (MCOV) is 340 V for L/PE and L/N paths, and 260 V for N/PE. The voltage protection level (Up) is under 1.2 kV for type 3 mode on N/PE. It complies with EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11, carrying NF, KEMA-KEUR, and OVE quality marks.
The arrester clips onto a DIN rail (mounting mode: clip-on). Its dimensions are 81.4 mm high, 36 mm wide, and 69 mm deep, occupying 4 modules of 9 mm pitch. The tunnel-type terminals accept 2.5 to 35 mm² conductors on both the upside and downside, with a tightening torque of 2.5 N·m.
Associated circuit breaker and coordination
This surge arrester is designed to be paired with an associated circuit breaker from the IC60N, iC60H, or iC60L range — all 20 A, curve C, with Icu ratings of 10 kA, 15 kA, or 25 kA respectively. The disconnector device type is listed as the associated circuit breaker, meaning the arrester itself does not include an integral disconnect; the upstream MCB provides overcurrent and short-circuit backup.
